Greetings Friends,
Since our last newsletter in the summer of 2007, we have had many changes at STEP. We are again implementing the publishing of our newsletter. Our intent is to have this newsletter be for our consumers of STEP services that will keep you up to date on what is happening at STEP, throughout Region III. We want our newsletter to be pertinent to our families and to keep you informed about issues that impact you in any way.
Some of the changes that have occurred since the spring of 2007 are: In November of 2007 we moved our office in Billings from 1501 14th Street West to 644 Grand Ave. Suite #1. We were able to purchase our current building and lease out part of it to two tenants, Dr. Jeanne Sutton, DMD, Family Dentist and Dr. David Powell of Whole Life Chiropractic. We have been able to keep our costs down by sharing the cost of our mortgage with our lessees. September 1, 2008, Sue Dow retired from STEP after 28 years with the agency. The Board of Directors appointed me Interim Executive Director at STEP after having served 7 years as the Program Administrator. In April 2009 we implemented a new organizational structure that allowed us to better support our staff, and because of this, we have been able to continue building a strong foundation that allows for client satisfaction to be STEP’s main focus.

The next couple of newsletters I will be re-introducing some of our staff. The first department I would like to introduce is our Family Education Support Team. This group of staff is the one you probably see most frequently as they take the lead role of a Family Support Specialist. Their job is to visit families and provide information in such areas as child development, community resources, adaptive equipment, and specific disabilities. Services are offered at different levels of intensity according to the individual needs of each family. This team works diligently for their clients and families in hopes of allowing them to embrace STEP’s philosophy of self-empowerment. We look forward to a successful 2010 with you!
